BTCE is the British Test Centre for English, a globally recognised English language testing centre operating throughout Europe and Asia. BTCE is based in London, England and has offices and test centres in Latvia, Slovakia, Turkey, and Taiwan.
BTCE tests all four core areas of the English language to CEFR standards and is accepted by both universities and employers as evidence of English language proficiency. The BTCE certificate is recognised as a secure, valid indicator of a person’s ability to communicate in education, immigration, and professional situations.
The English language tests administered by BTCE are based on the foreign language proficiency descriptors of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which is an international standard for describing language ability. The CEFR reflects six levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) from A1 for the most basic beginner to C2 for the very highest level of foreign language ability.
