About Us
BTCE -the British Test Centre for English- is a globally operating English language testing centre based in London and operating mainly throughout Europe and Asia.
The BTCE exams are developed in four categories: BTCE Mixed Skills Exams in English, BTCE Exams in Spoken English, BTCE Written English, and BTCE for Kids and Teenagers. The English language tests administered by BTCE are based on the foreign language proficiency descriptors of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which was developed by the Council of Europe and is currently seen as an international standard for describing language abilities from A1 for the most basic users to C2 for the mastery level in any additional language other than the mother tongue.
The BTCE is an institutional affiliate to the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE) and the certificate of its exam results is accepted by both universities and employers as evidence of English language proficiency level of individuals. In other words, the BTCE certificate is recognised as a secure, valid indicator of a person’s ability to communicate in education, immigration, and professional situations.
